Why do we have to be bored?
- With all the information revolving around us, our brains get overloaded. The appointment is at 10. The politics of this country is horrible. This new policies means that I have to change my way of living. In the past, these news arrived slowly due to lack of instantaneous technologies. Today, that is no longer the case. - What is the downside to this then? We never stop looking. Then, we omitted something very important that we should have thought of.
What is our purpose in life? Why do we live in this world? What is the meaning in my life?
- This are the questions that came up when we're bored.
- In scientific terms, when you're bored, your brain switch into a Default Mode Network. It makes us think about all the questions that makes us uncomfortable. The questions above are examples of those. Answering these questions will eventually led us to living a purposeful life and pull us out of depression. On the contrary, those who never seriously thought about this could easily fell into depression.
Practices
- Practice being bored for at least 15 minutes a day. No phones. No Social Media. No You Tube. No Netflix. No Comic books (or Manga). At first it will be painful. Like children screaming in your heads. Force your way through. Overtime, this gradually decrease and you start thinking about life at a deeper level.
